A judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit the city of Chicago filed against a northwestern Indiana store that alleged it sold hundreds of guns in straw purchases that ended up in the hands of felons or at crime scenes in the city. The city sued Westforth Sports Inc. of Gary in April 2021, alleging the store repeatedly violated federal gun laws and that store owner Earl Westforth ignored warnings from the U.S.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan to resign, Tuesday after a video circulated on social media showing Phelan slurring his speech and struggling to stand, with many suggesting he might have been intoxicated.  In a statement, Paxton called on Phelan to resign after being in a state of “apparent debilitating intoxication” on the House floor at the Texas Capitol.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that the state will assist New York City Mayor Eric Adams with finding “welcoming” sites for migrants, as the city struggles with an influx of asylum seekers.
