Pro-Trump GOP candidate Jeff Zink won Tuesday’s primary in Arizona’s deep-blue 3rd Congressional District.Zink defeated 29-year-old Jesús David Mendoza, a software engineer and political newcomer who ran as the more moderate Republican in the race.

Kari Lake won the Republican Senate primary in Arizona on Tuesday evening, setting up a heated race against Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., in November for the open seat being vacated by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz.Lake defeated Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Mark Lamb for the nomination. Gallego won his bid for the Democratic nomination to the Senate as well, officially securing the party’s nod to succeed Sinema.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., on Tuesday fended off a primary challenge from another Republican putting pressure on him from the right — ahead of what is expected to be a tight contest in November.Ciscomani won the GOP primary for the 6th Congressional District ahead of Kathleen Winn, who placed third in the 2022 primary for the seat.  He will face Democrat Kristen Engel in November, who received more than 49% of the vote against him in the 2022 contest.

Republican Rep. David Schweikert has won the battle for the party’s nod to keep one of the most vulnerable congressional seats in Arizona, which Democrats are hoping to flip in November.The 1st Congressional District is currently held by Schweikert, who narrowly won re-election in 2022 by less than 1%, and was the frontrunner going into the primary.

Vice President Kamala Harris is the only presidential candidate who has qualified to run for the Democratic presidential nomination, the Democratic National Committee said Tuesday.No other major Democrat had made any indication they planned to seek the party’s nomination to take on former President Trump in November, but the DNC’s announcement officially clears the path for the vice president to run unopposed for the nomination, according to The Associated Press.
